Yard Through

September 19, 2024 - October 20, 2024 + Reverb + Tyson Research Center, Eureka, MO

Yard Through is the inaugural, two-person exhibition installed at Reverb - a WWII bunker converted art space, located within the 2,000 forested acres of Tyson Research Center.

“Erin Johnston envisions the bunker as an edge-habitat between human and natural influence. To create the video Tadpool Screensaver, she projected footage onto interior and exterior walls and layered the results. No single frame dominates. The video shows tadpoles, animals who are infinitely smaller than us. In Erin’s sculptural work, Bioturbana/Wormhole, another tiny creature is present, this time a worm. The handcrafted ceramic pathway travels over familiar linoleum and carpet, rendered as a portrait of Erin’s own home. Similar to a worm’s burrow, the pathway visits the spaces and material touched by a single life. Inside the bunker’s industrial construction, the scale of our species-dominant frame starts to shift”
